    In Memoriam: Dr. Barbara E. Murray: A leading authority on the role of enterococci and S. aureus in infectious diseases from the bench to the bedside, Barbara E. Murray, MD, FIDSA, died April 11, 2024. A recipient of IDSA’s Alexander Fleming Award for lifetime achievement in 2017, Dr. Murray was president of the Society from 2013 to 2014 and served on the IDSA Board of Directors in multiple roles, including as treasurer and as secretary. In 1996, she was an IDSA Maxwell Finland Lecturer. Dr. Murray was the J. Ralph Meadows Professor in Internal Medicine at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she was a mentor to countless generations of microbiologists and ID physicians.
